Julie Bowers ’86
Cross Country & Track All-American
Hometown: Carlisle, PA
High School: Carlisle

Julie Bowers competed for the West Chester University cross country and track teams from 1981-85. During her career, Bowers achieved nine All-American honors - two in cross country and seven in track. She set six WCU indoor and outdoor records in distances ranging from the 1500 meters to the 10,000-meter run.

A three-time NCAA Division II track champion, Bowers twice won the 5000 meters (1984 & 1985) and also captured the 1500-meter indoor race (1985). She set Division II National Meet records in both events. In 1985, Bowers was named the MVP of the ECAC Indoor Championships.

Her career in the PSAC was stellar as well. She became the first female runner to win PSAC titles in four different distance events, claiming six crowns over two years in the 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 events. Bowers won the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Championship in 1984.
