Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse
Hometown: Ephrata, PA
High School: Ephrata
Jill Grant Lindenfeld had little trouble combining athletics and academics
during her career, graduating from West Chester magna cum laude.
The three-year varsity field hockey player served as the Golden
Rams captain in 1974 before moving on to compete on the United States
Field Hockey Team. She played at the international level for six
seasons (1974-80) but missed out on the 1980 Summer Olympics - after
making the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey squad - when the United States
led a boycott of the games hosted by the Soviet Union.
From 1977-79, Lindenfeld served as the head coach at Cal Poly-Pomona
before moving to the University of Notre Dame in 1984. She served
as the team’s head coach for six seasons.
She is currently an Associate Professional Specialist at Notre Dame
in the Physical Education Department and a Certified Personal Trainer.
In 1999, Lindenfeld was selected the Greatest Local Athlete of the
Century by the Ephrata Review. Lindenfeld, who also played varsity
lacrosse at West Chester, was inducted into the United States Field
Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.
