Carol Kashow’s career in college athletics began as a three-sport
competitor at West Chester in the mid-1970’s. She played field hockey
for two seasons, but her athletic career blossomed on the softball diamond
and on the badminton court. She was a four-year softball player and two-year
team captain (1976-77) who led the Golden Rams to their first appearance
in the AIAW College World Series in 1977.
Her playing days continued until 1992, competing on the ASA Women’s
Major Fastpitch level. She played in seven ASA National Tournaments
from 1975 through 1992 and was the Central Atlantic Regional Tournament
MVP in 1990. Kashow’s career as a Division I college coach
began in 1979 at Drexel University where she also served as an assistant
professor until 1991. From 1991-96, Kashow took over the coaching
reigns at Temple University, then in 1997 she moved to her current
head coaching job at the University of Pennsylvania.
The NCAA has tapped Kashow’s extensive administrative experience
to coordinate the Regional Championships six times from 1993-2001.
She also now serves on the NCAA Softball Committee.
