Anthony J. Puglisi '54
All-American Soccer Player & Head Coach
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
High School: Girard College

During his years as a soccer player at West Chester University, Anthony Puglisi was selected an All-American three years in a row (1951-53). As a freshman in 1950, Puglisi was a member of the Golden Ram team that finished undefeated and won the National Championship. He also served as co-captain of the 1953 Golden Rams during his senior year.

After completing his stellar playing career, Puglisi would later become head coach of the Shippensburg University men’s soccer team. His first year at the helm of the Red Raiders was in 1969 when his team finished 6-4. He continued coaching until 1990, finishing with a career record of 173-111-20 (.602). His teams captured the PSAC Championship in 1971 and 1975. In 1989, the Red Raiders set a school record by winning 13 games.

In addition to his outstanding coaching career, Puglisi served as an associate professor of health and physical education at Shippensburg.
