Jennifer Teneza Head Coach
Jennifer Teneza is in the midst of her sixth season overall and second tour of duty as the head coach of the West Chester University women's gymnastics program, tutoring the Purple and Gold’s talented group of tumblers.
Teneza has authored a 29-55 (.345) dual-meet mark in her split career. She first began mentoring her alma mater’s gymnasts right out of college in 2000. The Jenkintown, Pa., native compiled a 15-19 record in her first two campaigns, including an 11-10 mark her first year that represented the school’s only winning season since 1990.
When the university reinstated its gymnastics program in 2004, Teneza jumped on board to reprise her role as head coach. West Chester won just three meets that first year, but improved to 7-11 the following year under the close watch of its head coach.
The former Golden Ram earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II coach of the year accolades for her outstanding efforts in 2000, repeating the honor again in 2006.
Under Teneza’s tutalege, West Chester has sent a number of gymnasts to the USAG national championships in each of her previous five seasons. The Golden Rams also defeated Southern Connecticut State in 2005, ending a 20-year drought against the Owls.
Teneza is a 1999 graduate of West Chester University with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Coaching.
Prior to her first stint at West Chester, Teneza's served as a coach for local gymnastics clubs. She also served as a gymnastics coordinator for the YMCA featuring over 200 athletes. Teneza has coached gymnasts from pee-wee programs through level 9.
Teneza and her husband, Tom, live in West Goshen Township, Pa. with their two children Emma (5) and Max (2).
