Greg Mamula Head Coach
Greg Mamula was named the head coach at West Chester University in the fall of 2006 after serving a brief stint as interim head coach. Prior to taking over at WCU, Mamula spent five seasons (2002-2006) as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware, serving as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
As the recruiting coordinator, Mamula was considered one of the hardest working and most respected recruiters in the region. At Delaware, he recruited several Colonial Athletic Association all-conference players, several CAA all-rookie team members, two freshman All-Americans, a CAA rookie of the year and a third-team All-American. A number of his recruits have eventually been drafted or signed professional contracts after their collegiate playing careers. Mamula recruited the 2006 Delaware offense which led the NCAA in home runs (111), doubles (143) and slugging percentage (.574).
As the Blue Hens’ pitching coach, Mamula oversaw one of the CAA’s top pitching staffs. The 2005 staff led the CAA in strikeouts, allowed the second lowest opposing batting average and finished third in team earned run average. Delaware had three pitchers drafted during Mamula’s five seasons including, Mark Michael (fourth round – St. Louis Cardinals – 2003), Mike Mihalik (40th round – Philadelphia Phillies – 2004) and Brent Gaphardt (21st round – Seattle Mariners – 2006).
Mamula has held two summer head coaching positions. In the summer of 2005, Mamula was the head coach of the Sanford Mainers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League and in the summer of 1999, Mamula was the head coach of the Rome Indians of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
Mamula began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Shippensburg (Pa.) University. He spent three years at Shippensburg serving as the infielders coach and assisting with the hitting and recruiting. During his three seasons, Shippensburg was consistently ranked among the top 25 programs in NCAA Division II.
In two of his three seasons at Shippensburg, the Red Raiders advanced to the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament, while in 1999, Shippensburg fell one win shy of advancing to the Division II College World Series. During his three years at Shippensburg, the Red Raiders had four players selected in the major league baseball draft. While at Shippensburg, Mamula earned a master’s degree in elementary school counseling.
Mamula is a 1998 graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a degree in elementary education. He had a successful playing career at St. Bonaventure as a four-year starter in the infield for the Bonnies, twice being named to the Atlantic 10 all-academic team. He led the Bonnies in several offensive categories during his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, he was named a team captain and was chosen St. Bonaventure’s student-athlete of the spring. Additionally, Mamula was named Atlantic 10 player of week twice during his career.
Mamula resides in West Chester with his wife Melissa and their son Reid.
John Bellaver Assistant Coach
John Bellaver begins his first season as an assistant coach at West Chester in 2007. Bellaver has spent the previous three years as the head coach at Penn State University-Beaver (2004-2006). His three-year head coaching record at PSU-Beaver was 105-54 (.660) and included two PSU-AC West Championships.
Bellaver is also the head coach of the Pittsburgh Pandas, a collegiate summer team. The summer of 2007 will be his fourth as the Pandas' boss. Bellaver led the Pandas to a 2005 NABF national-runner up and 2006 national championship.
Overall he has authored a 118-31 (.792) coaching record with the Pandas. Twenty-two of his former players have moved on to play professional baseball including current big league pitcher Josh Sharpless.
Prior to taking over as the head coach at Penn State-Beaver, Bellaver was an assistant at his alma-mater, La Roche College (1999-2002), and Penn State-Beaver (2003).
Bellaver received his bachelor's degree in Communications from La Roche.
Bellaver resides in Frazer with his wife, Kassie, who is the head volleyball coach at West Chester, and their daughter Gabriella (2).
Ryan Lindstadt Assistant Coach
Ryan Lindstadt is in first season as an assistant coach at West Chester in 2007. Originally from nearby Downingtown and Bishop Shanahan High School, Lindstadt is a 2004 graduate of Shippensburg University. At Shippensburg, Lindstadt was a two time PSAC All Conference second-baseman. In his college career, Lindstadt played in 166 games with a career .344 batting average, 39 doubles (5th most in SU history), 7 triples, 9 homeruns, 83 RBI and 26 stolen bases. In his senior season (2004), Lindstadt hit .356 while committing only 2 errors in 48 games (.988) at second-base.
Lindstadt is single and resides in Downingtown.
